The business case

Stress and anxiety are not a wellbeing issue. They are a financial one.

£155,000

Lost to stress-related absence each year in an organisation of 200. The average per employee is £776. It compounds quickly.

£300,000+

Lost to presenteeism annually. People showing up but unable to think, decide, or lead. Two to three times the cost of absence and almost invisible.

£150,000+

Lost to turnover when ten burned-out employees leave. Replacing each person costs 50 to 200 percent of their salary.

$1 trillion

What makes this different

The STILL Method gives people
tools, not theory.

Built on 20 years of clinical practice. Grounded in nervous system science. Written in plain language that works in a boardroom, a warehouse, and a school hall at the same time.

Training built for managers

Your employees do not speak to HR every day.
They speak to their manager.

Research from King's College London identifies the relationship with an immediate manager as one of the strongest protective factors against work-related stress. It is not one lever among many. It is the lever. These two programmes train it directly, and can be booked on their own or alongside any of the options above.

Half day  ·  for managers and leaders

Trauma Informed Manager Training

Teaches managers to recognise how trauma shows up at work, in performance, communication and behaviour, and to respond without causing further harm.

Safe language, psychological safety, and clear boundaries around what a manager handles themselves and what they escalate. It does not turn your managers into therapists. It gives them a response instead of a referral.

Half day  ·  for managers and leaders

Anxiety Informed Management Training

Gives managers a practical framework for supporting anxious team members day to day: the conversation, the workload, and their own capacity.

It also covers a newer pressure showing up across UK workplaces: anxiety linked to AI change, from job security fears to the pace of adopting new tools. Managers learn to recognise it and respond, without needing to become AI specialists.

Both programmes are scenario-based and practical. Managers leave knowing what to say, not just what anxiety is. Evidence from NHS trusts has shown that training managers in structured supportive conversations significantly reduces sickness absence.

Workshop topics

Six topics. One
consistent framework.

Every workshop is built on the same STILL Method foundation. Choose the topic that fits your organisation's most pressing need. All can be combined into a structured programme across the year.

Half or full day

Anxiety and Stress at Work

What anxiety actually is, why it shows up at work, and what managers can do the moment they see it. Covers threat detection, the stress response, and practical tools for creating environments where people can think clearly.

Half day

Neurodiversity in the Workplace

A nervous system-led understanding of ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and dyscalculia at work. Practical adjustments from day one. No diagnosis required to begin.

Half or full day

Emotional Regulation for Teams

Why some people escalate under pressure and others shut down. What emotional regulation means at work, and how managers can support it without stepping into a therapeutic role.

Half day

Grief in the Workplace

Bereavement, redundancy grief, relationship breakdown, and team loss. A clear, compassionate framework for managers supporting people through loss without overstepping.

Half day

Sleep and Performance

The relationship between sleep, the nervous system, and performance at work. What poor sleep actually does to decision-making, emotional regulation, and error rates. Practical tools for immediate use.

Half or full day

Psychological Safety

What psychological safety actually means beyond the buzzword. Why nervous systems need to feel safe before people can think creatively, take risks, or tell the truth. How managers build it and what quietly destroys it.

What settings say
★★★★★
"There is a tangible difference in the people who have taken part in the STILL Method sessions. There seems to be an inner calmness. They are less worried and do not get as phased by changes."

Who delivers this

Stuart Thompson,
Founder, The STILL Method

Stuart created the STILL Method from more than 20 years of practice as a social worker, therapist, and anxiety specialist. His own experience living with brittle bone disease and significant hearing loss shaped a philosophy at the heart of everything he delivers: anxiety is not a weakness. It is a nervous system doing its job in an environment that was not designed with it in mind.

That is not background colour. It is why STILL Shift does not feel like a corporate training course.

  • 20+ years of clinical and coaching practice in anxiety and nervous system work
  • Listed as one of the UK's most influential disabled people, 2019
  • Featured in The Guardian and on the BBC
  • IPHM and ACCPH accredited training provider
  • 50+ trained practitioners delivering the STILL Method across the UK and internationally

Common questions

Asked by most organisations
before they book.

What is STILL Shift?

STILL Shift is a six-week workplace anxiety and emotional regulation programme. Your team works through the STILL framework in weekly 90-minute group sessions, with a separate training session for the manager, and a wellbeing survey before and after so leadership can see what changed. It starts from £3,500 for up to 25 staff.

How is this different from Mental Health First Aid?

Mental Health First Aid trains people to respond in a crisis. STILL programmes train teams and managers in the everyday supportive conversations that stop crises forming in the first place. The two are complementary rather than alternatives. If you already have MHFAiders, this is the layer underneath them.

What is trauma informed manager training?

A half-day programme that teaches managers to recognise how trauma shows up at work, in performance, communication and behaviour, and to respond without causing further harm. It covers safe language, psychological safety, and when to escalate. It does not turn managers into therapists.

What is anxiety informed management training?

A half-day programme that gives managers a practical framework for supporting anxious team members: how to hold the conversation, adjust workload and pressure sensibly, and protect their own capacity. It includes anxiety linked to AI change, one of the fastest growing pressures in UK workplaces.

How much does it cost?

Half-day workshops start from £750 for up to 20 people, and full days from £1,500 for up to 40. The six-week STILL Shift programme starts from £3,500 for up to 25 staff, £5,000 for up to 50, and from £7,500 organisation-wide. Internal certification for three to eight of your own staff starts from £8,000.

Can this be delivered online?

Yes. Every option can be delivered on-site, via Zoom, or as a mix, depending on how your teams are spread.

Do you measure the results?

Yes. STILL Shift includes a wellbeing survey before and after the programme and a measurable outcomes report for leadership, so you can demonstrate impact rather than take it on trust.

Is the training accredited?

The STILL Method is delivered by an IPHM and ACCPH accredited training provider, and has been featured in The Guardian and on the BBC. CPD certificates are available for workshop attendees on request.

Let's talk about what your
team actually needs.

A 20-minute call. No obligation. We will listen to what is happening in your organisation and tell you honestly whether the STILL Method is the right fit and which option makes sense to start with.
