Sleep and insomnia support

Support for nights that have stopped feeling restful

Restful Reboot is The STILL Method sleep programme for adults and older teens who are tired of lying awake, clock watching and dreading bedtime. It combines sleep science, CBT for insomnia, gentle hypnosis and STILL tools so your mind and body can remember how to rest.

This is not about perfection or eight hours every night. It is about reducing the fight around sleep, calming an overactive mind and building a pattern that actually fits real life.

If this sounds familiar

You fall into bed exhausted and your brain starts its nightly review of everything that ever went wrong.

You wake at three in the morning with your heart racing and a mind that refuses to switch off.

You feel fine on the outside but held together with caffeine and sheer will by lunchtime.

Who Restful Reboot sleep support is for

This page is for people whose relationship with sleep has quietly broken down. You may have called it insomnia, broken sleep, early waking or simply not being a good sleeper.

You might recognise yourself in some of these descriptions.

  • You take a long time to fall asleep because your mind will not stop replaying the day.
  • You wake in the small hours and cannot switch your thoughts off again.
  • You dread bedtime because it has become another task to get right.
  • You rely on caffeine or sugar to get through the day and then feel wired at night.
  • You have tried sleep hygiene tips and apps yet still feel stuck.

Some people we support have lived like this for years. Others have had a sudden change in sleep after burnout, illness, grief or a period of high stress. Restful Reboot gives you a structured way to understand what is happening and gently rebuild trust in your own ability to sleep.

When anxiety and sleep keep feeding each other

Sleep problems rarely exist on their own. Anxiety and stress often sit underneath. The more you worry about sleep, the harder it becomes to rest. The harder it is to rest, the more anxious you feel.

  • You lie awake rehearsing everything that could go wrong tomorrow.
  • You check the time again and again and feel panic rise as the hours pass.
  • You fear what broken sleep will do to your work, parenting or health.
  • You tell yourself you must sleep and then feel even more wired.

This is not a character flaw. It is how a human nervous system behaves when it is treated as if danger could arrive at any moment. Restful Reboot works directly with this pattern, so your body can begin to stand down from constant threat mode.

What Restful Reboot sleep support offers

Restful Reboot is a structured sleep coaching pathway within The STILL Method. It combines CBT for insomnia, hypnotic relaxation and nervous system tools so you can work on both habits and the emotional load around sleep.

Across a series of sessions you can expect to work on things like:

  • Understanding how sleep works, and why worry, screens and irregular patterns disturb it.
  • Changing unhelpful sleep thoughts such as everyone else can cope except me.
  • Resetting your sleep window so your time in bed is more likely to be actual rest.
  • Rebuilding a calming pre sleep routine that works for your life, not an ideal world.
  • Using gentle self hypnosis and relaxation so your body learns that night can be safe again.

Coaching is practical and respectful. You set the pace. Your coach brings structure, explanation and steady support so that any changes feel possible even on busy or difficult days.

The STILL pillars in Restful Reboot

How The STILL Method supports better sleep

The STILL Method was created as an anxiety framework. It adapts naturally to sleep because insomnia often starts with fear, not laziness. Restful Reboot uses the five STILL pillars in a way that respects your energy and responsibilities.

Stop

Short tools that interrupt late night spirals and bring the nervous system down from alarm so you can move away from panic toward rest.

Talk

Space to name what sleeplessness has done to your mood, confidence, health and relationships without being told it is silly or dramatic.

Imagine

Careful work around what life might look like when sleep improves. Not a fantasy transformation, but believable changes like waking with more margin.

Listen

Learning to notice your own body clock, energy dips and stress signals so you can work with them rather than fight them every night.

Learn

Identifying what actually helps you rest and what quietly makes things worse, then building new habits that support sleep in the long term.

The aim is not a perfect score on a sleep tracker. It is a calmer relationship with bedtime and mornings that feel more possible.

Adults

Sleep and insomnia support for adults

Many adults who reach out for Restful Reboot look capable on the outside and overwhelmed on the inside. Work, caring and family life are still happening, while sleep feels unpredictable and fragile.

Adult focused sleep support can help you:

  • Understand why your current sleep pattern developed and what is keeping it stuck.
  • Reduce clock watching and catastrophising about the next day.
  • Build a realistic plan for evenings, nights and mornings that fits your responsibilities.
  • Explore how anxiety, burnout or health issues are affecting sleep without shame.
  • Rediscover small pockets of rest and ease during the day, not only at night.
Teens and young adults

Sleep support for teens and young adults

Sleep difficulties in young people are often dismissed as laziness, gaming or bad habits. Many are juggling school, college or early work life with anxiety, late nights and heavy expectations.

Support for young people focuses on:

  • Helping them understand how body clocks and screens affect their sleep.
  • Finding small, believable changes that respect homework, friends and activities.
  • Reducing late night worry loops about exams, friendships or the future.
  • Using creative STILL tools so sessions feel engaging rather than like another lecture.
  • Supporting parents to respond with steadiness rather than constant arguments about bedtime.

Working alongside medical and professional care

Restful Reboot sleep coaching is non clinical and trauma informed. It does not diagnose, prescribe or replace medical care.

Many people we support are:

  • waiting for or attending sleep clinics or consultant appointments
  • taking medication and wanting to add non medical tools
  • working with therapy, counselling or wellbeing support

Coaching can sit alongside this by helping you apply advice in daily life, supporting you while you adjust habits and offering a steady place to process the emotional impact of long term sleep problems.

If new symptoms appear or safety concerns arise you will always be encouraged to seek appropriate medical advice.

Questions people often ask about sleep support

Is this therapy or a medical sleep clinic

Restful Reboot is sleep coaching. It is structured, practical and evidence informed, using approaches such as CBT for insomnia and relaxation. It does not replace therapy or medical assessment, although it can sit alongside both.

Can sleep really change if I have struggled for years

No one can promise perfect sleep, especially where there are health conditions or caring duties. What usually changes first is your relationship with sleep and your confidence in your own tools. Over time many people notice that their pattern becomes steadier and their days feel more manageable.

Will I have to give up all screens and all caffeine

Advice is realistic. You will look at how light, caffeine and routine affect your sleep and work out changes that are possible in your life, rather than following a strict rule book that collapses after a week.

Can we work online

Yes. Many Restful Reboot coaches work entirely online which makes support easier around work, parenting and fatigue. Some coaches also offer face to face sessions. You can discuss what is available when you get in touch.

Your next step

You do not have to fix sleep in one leap. Often the most important step is speaking to someone who understands that there are reasons you are not sleeping and that you are not failing at something basic.

If you are a practitioner who wants to specialise in this work, you can train as a Restful Reboot sleep coach through our accredited programme. Find out about sleep coach training.
