About The STILL Method

The STILL Method is an accredited coaching and practitioner training organisation built on a nervous system framework. STILL stands for Stop, Talk, Imagine, Listen, Learn. The approach is grounded in the understanding that anxiety is not a disorder. It is a system that has been overtrained. Our tools work with the nervous system rather than against it.
Stuart Thompson. He is an anxiety specialist, coach trainer, and author of 90 Days With Your Nervous System: Not Against It. He has trained coaches worldwide over more than 25 years of direct practice and has been featured in The Guardian and on the BBC.
No. It is a coaching and educational framework. The tools support emotional regulation and nervous system recovery. They complement therapeutic or medical care but do not replace it. If someone needs clinical support, we say so clearly.
CBT works with thought patterns. Mindfulness builds present-moment awareness. The STILL Method works directly with the nervous system. It gives people structured, repeatable tools for real-life situations. The goal is not calm. The goal is choice.
Yes. The framework is trauma informed. It supports safe emotional regulation and can sit alongside therapy or clinical care. Coaches are trained to work within appropriate boundaries.
Yes. The tools are flexible and can be adapted for neurodiverse learners and clients. Our dedicated ADHD Coach Certification is a specialist pathway for professionals working specifically with ADHD.

Courses and Qualifications

No. People come to us from teaching, social work, healthcare, HR, and career change backgrounds. A values-led approach and willingness to learn are what matter. We carry out criminal record checks and take up references.
Yes. Core training is accredited by ACCPH and IPHM. Specialist courses carry CPD accreditation through the CPD Certification Service, making them relevant for SENCOs, pastoral leads, Heads of Year, and teaching assistants who require verifiable continuing professional development.
All training is delivered online. The core programme is available as live Zoom training or self-paced online study. Specialist short courses vary. All dates are listed at thestillmethod.co.uk/courses.
The live Anxiety Coach Certification runs across four training days. The self-paced version covers the same curriculum with flexible timing. Most specialist short courses are delivered across one or two days.
The Training Pass gives access to multiple STILL Method programmes at a bundled investment. It is designed for people who want to build a broad practitioner portfolio rather than train in one specialism. Full details are on the Training Pass page.
Specialist short courses start from £295. Core programme pricing is listed on each course page. The Training Pass is the most cost-effective route if you plan to complete more than one qualification. Full pricing is at thestillmethod.co.uk/courses.
The STILL Model is a separate specialist framework for schools, children's homes, and care organisations. It supports whole-team culture change and trauma-informed practice at an organisational level. It is distinct from our individual coach training. For organisations, visit the organisations page.
